Food Plot Establishment and Maintenance: Our food plot system of using perennial legumes and annual grains works wonders in attracting wildlife into your property. Years of experience along with trial and error on our own property has taught us which seeds work and which ones don’t, saving you valuable time and money. Check out our Food Plot page for more information.

Soil Testing: Testing the soil for pH and fertilizer requirements is often overlooked. HFWC offers soil testing to determine how much and what kind of fertilizer and lime to use before planting your food plots.

Lime and Fertilizer Applications: After completing a soil test we can apply the appropriate amount of lime and fertilizer on your food plots to ensure the success of your plots and to increase the forage available to your wildlife.

Native Grass Plantings: Also know as warms season grass, native grasses offer excellent wildlife habitat. We use high quality seed to get the best results for your grass plantings. We can do all types of grass seed plantings for government programs such as Wetland Reserve Program (WRP), Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), and Environmental Quality Improvement Program (EquiP).

Strip Disking: Strip disking is a great substitute for mowing in between tree rows. Disking suppresses fescue growth while allowing annual weeds to grow which is great for wildlife, especially quail.

Controlled Burns: Burning native grasses is an excellent way to control woody vegetation in grass stands. It also works to reduce the amount of dead debris from the grass field allowing the new grasses to grow. This provides an abundance of young flourishing new growth which wildlife love to browse. You can be assured that all safety precautions are taken while conducting any burns and all employees burning have years of experience and qualifications.

Tree and Shrub Planting: Tree and shrub planting practices are useful in developing productive stands of timber and land beneficial to wildlife. Early succesional habitat (very young timber stand) benefits a wide variety of wildlife offering cover and browsing opportunities.

Travel Corridor Establishment: Travel corridors for deer and other wildlife can be established to promote improved hunting objectives and wildlife viewing opportunities.

GPS Mapping: Pictures are worth a thousand words. The same goes for a map. Our GPS software allows us to map potential and established deer trails, bedding areas, food plots, stand locations, property lines as well as any other items that may need to be mapped.

Trail Camera Surveys: We can determine your doe to buck ratio, doe to fawn ratio, deer per acre and deer per square mile. This helps determine how many and which deer should be harvested in a given season.

Wildlife Management Plans: These plans are used to create long term wildlife management plans that will assist a land owner with proper wildlife management techniques. The wildlife management plan provides management schedules to maximize habitat and wildlife on your property.

Wildlife Ponds: Our location and construction of wildlife ponds are excellent for providing a water source to wildlife in the late summer. Wildlife ponds can often be an overlook asset to any wildlife property.
